Breaking: Tinubu Approves New Police Academy Campus, Releases ₦15 Billion Funding

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the establishment of a new campus of the Nigeria Police Academy in Erinja, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The approval was disclosed on Monday in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Tinubu also sanctioned a special take-off grant of ₦15 billion for the institution.

According to the statement, the decision aligns with the provisions of the Nigeria Police Academy (Establishment) Act, 2021, which supports the expansion of the academy based in Wudil, Kano State, into multiple campuses across the country.

The funding will be drawn from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) 2026 allocation and will be used to support key infrastructure projects, academic facilities, student hostels, and essential training equipment.

It added that a high-level consultative meeting involving the Minister of Police Affairs, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, officials of the Federal Ministry of Education, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC) recommended Erinja as the location for the new campus.

The decision reportedly took into account factors such as student capacity, funding availability, academic standards, and the growing manpower needs of the Nigeria Police Force.

President Tinubu stated that the expansion would enhance institutional development, improve modern policing education, and strengthen national security.
