BREAKING: VerydarkMan Released After Two-Week Detention

Controversial social media critic Martin Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, has been released from detention after more than two weeks. Otse, who faced charges of cyberstalking and bullying, was expected to be released a week after his initial arrest on May 22, 2024. The blogger was brought before the Federal High Court in Abuja and pleaded not guilty to five counts of cyberstalking involving the Nigerian police and actresses Iyabo Ojo and Tonto Dike. His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, applied for bail, leading to a bail hearing initially adjourned to May 29 due to a delay in the prosecution’s response. While the prosecution sought prison remand, his defense successfully argued for police custody.

Ultimately, the court granted the request, and VeryDarkMan was transferred to the National Cybercrime Centre.
