In a post on the social media platform X on Thursday night, Adeyanju stated that VeryDarkMan was detained after responding to a police invitation. He wrote, “Our client, VDM, has been detained after honoring a police invitation just like yesterday. VDM has consistently claimed that the Nigerian Police are our friends, even when we all know they are not.”

VeryDarkMan had previously issued a public apology to the Nigeria Police Force after wearing a police uniform in one of his recent videos, which the police condemned and prompted an investigation.

In the controversial clip, he humorously referred to himself as a “Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) of the Online Division” while wearing the uniform. Following the backlash, he posted an apology video on Thursday, expressing regret for wearing attire that resembled official police uniforms. He urged Nigerians to obtain proper authorization before donning police attire to avoid misunderstandings or legal issues.

“Back from the police station where I was interrogated about my post wearing a costume that the police claim is similar to theirs. I did not intend to impersonate the police in any way and I offer my unreserved apologies to the Nigeria Police Force and the office of the Inspector General of Police,” VeryDarkMan stated.
