BREAKING: VP Shettima Arrives Sierra Leone Ahead Of Crucial ECOWAS Meeting

Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Freetown, Sierra Leone, to represent President Bola Tinubu at the 69th Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The high-level summit, taking place at the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre, will bring together West African leaders, ministers, senior government officials and representatives of regional institutions to deliberate on critical issues affecting the sub-region.

A statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), Stanley Nkwocha, said Shettima would join political and business leaders from across the region for discussions aimed at deepening regional cooperation and addressing shared challenges.

According to the Presidency, the meeting will focus on key policy decisions and strategic resolutions designed to strengthen peace, democratic governance, economic growth and regional integration among ECOWAS member states.

The summit also forms part of the regional bloc’s statutory mid-year meeting, during which leaders review progress on major priorities, including security, trade, infrastructure development, economic integration, democratic governance and sustainable development.

The gathering comes at a critical time as several West African nations continue to grapple with terrorism, political transitions and economic pressures, prompting renewed efforts to enhance cooperation and collective responses across the region.

The Presidency said Vice President Shettima is expected to return to Abuja after the conclusion of the summit.
