Bribery Won’t Be Tolerated: Gov Otti Threatens To Sack Any Appointee Caught In Corruption

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has issued a stern warning that any appointee in his administration found guilty of bribery or corruption will be dismissed immediately.

This comes just two weeks after six officials of the Ministry of Justice were relieved of their duties for allegedly inflating their salaries.

Speaking at the Abayi District of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Aba Conference, Governor Otti emphasized that corruption has no place in his government.

According to him, his foray into Abia politics was driven by the desire to restore the state’s dignity, in line with the honesty and integrity the Igbo people are renowned for.

He warned: “If anyone demands money from you for anything, know that it is a lie. Such a person is a fraudster because they will take your money and still do nothing for you. That is why bribery and corruption will never thrive in this government. If you’re caught, I will fire you—no one can plead on your behalf.”

Governor Otti further stressed that his administration upholds meritocracy, citing the recent employment of 5,394 teachers in the state, all recruited without paying a single bribe.
