Budget: Abaribe Reveals How Funds Were Distributed Among Senators....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, the representative of Abia South in the upper chamber of the National Assembly, has disclosed the allocation of funds for the Zonal Intervention Project within the 2024 budget. Contrary to claims made by Senator Agom Jarigbe of Cross River North during a recent plenary session, Abaribe clarified that he received only N266 million from the funds designated for lawmakers across the six geo-political zones, not the alleged N500 million.
Abaribe elaborated on the distribution of funds, emphasizing that each lawmaker’s share is contingent on the number of states within their respective zones. For instance, the Northwest zone, with seven states, would naturally receive a lesser amount compared to his Southeast zone, which comprises only five states.
In shedding light on the financial breakdown, Abaribe stated, “I have been saying that all fingers are not equal and by privilege of office, certain people will get but not every Senator gets an equal amount. These are six zones in the country, and every zone gets its own N10 billion in intervention.”
He further explained the percentage distribution between the Senate and the House, noting, “My state, Abia, gets N2 billion, and if we break it down for both the Senate and the representatives, the Senate is getting 40%, and the House gets 60%. I got about N266 million as zonal intervention. The person in the Northwest who has seven states will necessarily get less, about a hundred million and something.
