The uproar over the allocation of funds not linked to any projects in the budget signed into law for the current year has ignited widespread concern. Reports by the BBC have unveiled billions of dollars being included without proper justification, further intensifying tensions within the Senate.

The situation reached a boiling point when Senator Ningi implicated Senate President Akpabio in the budget padding scandal, leading to his suspension.

Adding fuel to the fire, another high-profile senator disclosed during today’s plenary session that 500 million was distributed among senators. While some members of the red chamber, including Senators Ali Ndume and Abaribe, clarified that the funds were designated for constituency projects, discrepancies in distribution methods were evident.

It is noteworthy that numerous senators are yet to share their own side of the story or provide insights into these disheartening corruption allegations.

Shehu Sani, via his social media platform, emphasized, “It’s either your Senator is on the Side of Akpabio or on the side of Ningi.The Senators who maintain silence are either afraid of the public or afraid of suspension.”
