Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Shehu dismissed reports that Buhari was critically ill, emphasizing that the ex-president’s health is steadily improving.

“The situation was not as serious as portrayed. Yes, he was hospitalized, but he’s now under care and recovering well. Each day brings further improvement, though we can only say it’s fully resolved once he’s completely healed,” Shehu said.

He criticized the exaggerated reports surrounding Buhari’s condition, clarifying that while the former president did face a health challenge, his condition had stabilized and he was recovering smoothly.

Highlighting Buhari’s physical condition since leaving office, Shehu noted that the 82-year-old actually appears healthier now than when he assumed the presidency in 2015.

“In fact, he looked far healthier after leaving office. His current lifestyle plays a big role in that,” Shehu said, attributing Buhari’s resilience to a disciplined routine of healthy eating and regular physical activity.

He added that the former president keeps a rigorous fitness schedule at his Daura farm, where he walks for over an hour and a half four times a week.
