When questioned about the potential corruption of his cabinet members, Buhari responded, “Well, what have they done, and Nigerians should’ve fought corruption, it’s not my business, it’s their business.” This statement has ignited criticism and raised questions about leadership accountability during Buhari’s eight-year term.

Recall Former President Muhammadu Buhari also stated in the same interview with the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) that Nigerians are a ‘difficult people to govern.’ During his eight-year tenure, he emphasized that he exerted his best efforts to propel the country forward but noted that Nigerians often believe they should be in charge, creating challenges for governance. Buhari acknowledged the difficulty of leading a nation where people are assertive about their rights. He defended his achievements, particularly in addressing insecurity in the Northeast, highlighting the importance of securing the country to facilitate development.
