A 28-year-old businessman, Peter Sunday, has been sentenced to one year in prison by a Jos Magistrates’ Court for stealing vehicle parts worth N200,000. The Magistrate, Mr. Shawomi Bokkos, delivered the summary sentence after Sunday pleaded guilty to the charge. However, Bokkos offered the convict an alternative to pay N30,000 in fines and compensate the complainant with N100,000. The magistrate emphasized that the sentence aims to deter potential offenders. The case, reported by the complainant, Stephen Dung, to the “B” Police station Bukuru on March 19, was prosecuted by Insp Labaran Ahmed.
