to step in and address the ongoing crisis in the state. The party urged Tinubu to urge the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo to take action to prevent chaos, citing the alleged blatant disregard for the rule of law.

Anthony Aziegbemi, the state caretaker committee chairman, made the appeal during a press conference in Benin City on Saturday following the impeachment of Oredo Local Government Chairman, Tom Obaseki, on Friday.

Aziegbemi accused the impeachment of being orchestrated by 12 imposters who posed as councillors and stormed the council’s secretariat in Benin City. He called on President Tinubu to address what he described as a serious breach of the rule of law.

He referred to the APC-led government’s actions as a “coup d’état,” warning that the situation could lead to anarchy.

“We urge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene immediately, as the situation is becoming alarming. This is a coup by the APC-led government in Edo State against democratic principles.

“The Edo State government must be brought to order to prevent a full-blown state of anarchy following the continued disregard for the rule of law.

“The latest incident at Oredo Local Government, where 12 imposters claimed to have impeached the council chairman, Tom Obaseki, is deeply troubling,” he said.
