According to an internal advertisement from the apex bank, which was seen by *Daily Trust*, the CBN is seeking candidates for seven director-level positions. These roles include Director of Corporate Communications (CCD), Financial Policy and Regulation (FPRD), Other Financial Institutions Supervision (OFISD), Procurement & Support Services (PSSD), Banking Services (BKSD), Medical Services (MSD), and Information Technology (ITD).

Currently, these departments are managed by coordinators, as indicated on the CBN’s website.

The advertisement outlines specific conditions for eligibility. Candidates must be confirmed staff members at the deputy director level, with at least three years of experience in that role. Those with two years or less until retirement are not eligible, and applicants can only apply for one position to avoid disqualification. The deadline for applications is 4 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2024, and submissions must be sent via the provided email. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

In March, *Daily Trust* reported that 27 staff members, including directors, were affected by the CBN’s initial round of restructuring. This group included eight directors, 10 deputy directors, five assistant directors, and several senior managers. Since then, CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso has dismissed 17 directors, while four others retired after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.

The restructuring, described as a “Re-Organisation” in official communications, aligns with the bank’s new strategic direction and mission, which has been widely publicized.

However, there are concerns that some acting directors, currently serving as coordinators, may be excluded from applying for these permanent positions due to the eligibility criteria. A senior CBN staff member, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated, “Many of those overseeing these departments may not qualify under the current conditions. Most of those eligible were affected alongside the dismissed directors.”

The vacancy announcement also specifies that applicants must have a minimum of 20 years of working experience, including at least 12 years of senior management experience.
