The cement giants faced allegations of exploiting exchange rate fluctuations, engaging in corrupt practices, and manipulating the economy to maintain the inflated prices. Despite these concerns and ongoing discussions with lawmakers, cement prices remain unaffordable for many Nigerians.
The price hike has particularly affected individual homebuilders, who now face significant challenges in financing construction projects. While lawmakers have attempted to intervene, no substantial changes have been made, leaving citizens and the construction industry to bear the brunt of the high costs.
