On Monday, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) invalidated the certificates of 101 individuals who had been previously mobilized for national service. This announcement was made by Eddy Megwa, the NYSC Director of Information and Public Relations. He explained that this action is part of the NYSC’s ongoing efforts to sanitize the system and maintain the integrity of the NYSC scheme.
Megwa emphasized that the NYSC will continue to take decisive action against any individuals or institutions involved in fraudulent mobilization. He also urged Corps Employers, Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Corporate and Religious Organizations, Multi-National Companies, and Corps Producing Institutions to verify the authenticity of certificates presented to them.
He advised the public to confirm the legitimacy of NYSC certificates at the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja to avoid employing or accepting fake corps members.
“The Management of the National Youth Service Corps reaffirms its strong commitment to ensuring that unqualified locally and foreign-trained Nigerian youths, especially those who allegedly graduated from unaccredited universities, are not recognized. Only qualified individuals will be issued NYSC Certificates of National Service.”
“As a result, the Certificates of National Service for the listed individuals have been immediately invalidated by NYSC Management. We urge Corps Employers, Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Corporate and Religious Organizations, Multi-National Companies, Corps Producing Institutions, and other key NYSC stakeholders to take prompt action based on this notice.”
“Furthermore, the public is encouraged to verify the authenticity of Certificates of National Service, Exemption, and Exclusion Letters at the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja before accepting them for any purpose,” Megwa stated
