In an interview following the committee’s inauguration, Tarkighir expressed his appreciation for the leadership of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Tajudeen Abbas.
He commended the Speaker for entrusting them with the responsibility of ensuring the proper execution of constituency projects.
Tarkighir conveyed his gratitude for the confidence placed in him as the committee’s chairman and vowed to uphold the Speaker’s trust.
He explained that, as indicated by the committee’s name, “constituency outreach” would address the requirements of all 360 constituencies in the country, as mandated by the constitution.
Tarkighir emphasized their commitment to facilitating the establishment of constituency offices in each constituency, where constituents can visit, and lawmakers can engage with the people.
He further clarified the committee’s role, stating that it was established in 2003 to safeguard the interests of members and oversee the implementation of projects by members, as well as their Social Investment Projects (SIP).
