The protesters accused party leaders and officials of manipulating the process, which featured contestants Sani Abdulkadir Dakaci and Hussaini Jalo.

Some supporters alleged that there was no proper accreditation or vote counting before Jalo was declared the winner.

A video circulating on social media showed the APC chairman being forced into a waiting vehicle amid the tense aftermath of the disputed exercise.

One party member, Musa Salihu, told Daily Trust that supporters were lined up for the process but were never counted.

He claimed, “We lined up but nobody counted us. Suddenly, they came out and announced that Jalo had won the election. That is not democracy because no election was conducted.”

Another supporter, Musbahu Idris, said participants had gathered at the venue since 6 a.m., expecting a transparent process.

He added that they were shocked when Jalo was declared winner, insisting that no voting actually took place as they were not informed of any election at the party office.

However, a supporter of the APC chairman, Haruna Sani, maintained that a valid primary election was conducted and that Jalo emerged victorious.

He said the youths acted on allegations of injustice, but insisted that the result was legitimate, adding that attempts to protect the chairman failed as the aggrieved youths overpowered party members before taking him away.
