Chaos In Edo ADC As Fresh Leadership Storms In Amid Crisis

Alike was declared chairman alongside 23 other executive members, despite ongoing disputes over the party’s legitimate leadership in the state.

The announcement was made by the National Collation Chairman at the party secretariat, Sem Andrew Uchendu.

This development came less than 24 hours after a member of the party’s National Executive Committee, Rowland Owie, announced Nosa Ehima as the newly elected state chairman.

Further complicating the situation, the incumbent chairman, Kennedy Odion—whose tenure is due to end on May 19—stated that he was not aware of any congress held in the state.

Before announcing the results, Uchendu explained that he had spent three days in Edo State overseeing congresses at the unit, ward, local government, and state levels.

He added that party leaders in the state, led by former APC national chairman John Odigie-Oyegun, had agreed on a consensus arrangement to produce the new leadership.

According to him, the process was aimed at establishing a more structured leadership system within the party in the state.

Reacting after his emergence, Alike pledged to unite divided members and reposition the party.

He also said he had begun consultations with key stakeholders, starting with a visit to Odigie-Oyegun.

Alike stated that his team would soon release a policy direction, stressing the need for national reflection on governance and political dissatisfaction.

He further emphasized plans to mobilize citizens ahead of upcoming elections, framing the party as an alternative to current leadership and calling for broader political change.
