Christmas Gift — Wike Announces Tinubu’s Major Plan For Abuja Residents
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has assured residents of Abuja that several ongoing road projects across the territory are expected to be completed and delivered in December, describing the projects as a Christmas gift from President Bola Tinubu.
Wike made the disclosure on Tuesday after inspecting construction works on Arterial Road N1, which connects Wuye to Ring Road II, the Tungan Madaki-Zuba Road and the Zaudna-Kaba-Kagini corridor linking to the Kubwa Expressway. He expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work and commended the contractors for their commitment to meeting the agreed timelines.
According to Bush Radio Academy, Wike said the completion of the projects would ease transportation challenges and stimulate economic activities in communities along the affected routes. He also noted that the improved road network would bring significant benefits to residents of suburban and rural communities that have faced transportation difficulties.
The minister acknowledged that rainfall had affected some aspects of the construction, particularly earthworks, but expressed confidence that work would accelerate as the rainy season subsides. He said the contractors remained committed to meeting the December delivery schedule.
Wike described the planned completion of the roads as part of what President Tinubu had promised residents as a Christmas gift, saying the projects were intended to improve movement and contribute to economic development in the affected communities.
While addressing residents in areas along the road corridors, Wike also made political appeals concerning the 2027 elections. He urged residents to support President Tinubu and former FCT Senator Philip Aduda, who is seeking to represent the territory in the Senate.
The minister said the FCT Administration would continue monitoring the projects and pushing contractors to deliver within the agreed timelines, with December remaining the target for the affected road projects.
