He noted that examining and approving the budget is crucial, as the appropriation bill serves as the primary tool for translating government policies and programmes into tangible actions that affect citizens’ lives.

Falgore also commended Governor Kano for the timely submission of the 2026 Appropriation Bill, stating that it allowed the Assembly sufficient time for a comprehensive review. He assured stakeholders that the proposed ₦1 trillion budget, with education earmarked for the largest allocation, would undergo rigorous scrutiny to ensure transparency, accountability, and value for money in line with the state’s development priorities.

The Speaker further pledged that all recommendations from civil society groups, development partners, and citizen representatives would be carefully considered during the legislative review process.

Earlier, the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Aminu Sa’adu, welcomed participants and hailed their turnout as a strong reflection of inclusive governance. Sa’adu assured attendees that key issues raised during the session would inform the final budget, driving development across critical sectors of the state.

The public hearing is expected to play a significant role in guiding legislative deliberations, reinforcing Kano State’s commitment to participatory budgeting and accountable governance.
