The group believes that the protests are a vital clarion call to rescue the country from the devastating hardships inflicted by the new government. They also view the demonstrations as a means to prevent potential military intervention, similar to the events occurring in other West African nations.

The statement specifically highlights the rampant corruption and reckless impunity of the political elite and their associates, which have resulted in unnecessary suffering for the Nigerian people.

The Civil Society group urges all Nigerians to stand together in supporting the Labour movement and the broader coalition of organized civil society, represented by the United Action Front of Civil Society of Nigeria, to make a powerful statement against the new government’s anti-poor policies.

The group emphasizes that Nigeria belongs to its citizens and that the impoverished population deserves better than being suffocated by fuel subsidy removal and other economic agendas imposed by international finance cartels and their allies.
