Today, security men connected to the Office of the State Governor attacked the media team working for the Office of the Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu.

The media crew affiliated with the Deputy Governor was actively engaged in their duties when they were individually identified by Mr. Andrew Okungbowa, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, and Ms. Osarumwense Margaret Ojo, the Public Relations Officer of the Governor’s Office. Following their identification, security personnel associated with the Governor forcibly ejected the media team from the premises.

Despite Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu’s efforts to retain their presence at the event, he encountered resistance from the security personnel, who claimed their actions were based on “higher directives.” In response, Shaibu expressed his refusal to participate in an event where his media crew was denied access.

Consequently, Deputy Governor Shaibu chose to exit the premises.

This incident echoes a similar unfortunate occurrence that transpired just the day before (Sunday), wherein the Deputy Governor faced a comparable assault and degradation by the Governor’s security personnel during the 32nd-anniversary celebration of the establishment of Edo State. The incident garnered widespread public condemnation.
