A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) senatorial aspirant under the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Aisha Yesufu, has alleged that the party’s primary election was manipulated by certain leaders.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The activist made the allegation in a lengthy post shared on her account, claiming that the exercise was conducted in a closed setting with a “predetermined outcome presented as procedural formalities.”

She further alleged that the election process was repeatedly postponed and that the venue was changed at the last minute.

According to her, the party’s electoral guidelines were not properly followed, adding that the process did not reflect fairness or justice.

Yesufu wrote that a delegate-based system was introduced to hold the election at a central location instead of conducting direct primaries at local government headquarters.

She claimed that instead of an open contest among delegates, the result was decided behind closed doors, away from the participants whose votes were meant to be represented.

“The party will go on to release statements about the free and fair nature of the Abuja FCT primaries,” she wrote.

“They are entitled to their position, but what transpired, when measured against conscience and the provisions of the Electoral Act, does not reflect justice and fairness.
