A pressure group, the Unified Nigerian Youth Forum, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to appoint Hajiya Halimat Adenike as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, citing her suitability for the role. The group, in a letter addressed to the President and copied to several key government officials, highlighted her extensive philanthropic work and emphasized the importance of inclusivity in addressing the needs of vulnerable groups.

The letter, drafted following an emergency meeting in Lagos and signed by the group’s National President, Comrade Idowu Olufemi Shoroye, stressed the critical impact of having a dedicated Minister to oversee initiatives benefiting Nigerian youths, particularly those with disabilities. They commended Hajiya Halimat Adenike’s commitment to humanitarian causes through her Tejuosho Foundation, noting her efforts in supporting senior citizens, people with disabilities, and underprivileged children across the country.

The group emphasized that appointing Hajiya Halimat Adenike would rectify past exclusions and ensure that marginalized groups receive the attention they deserve. They urged President Tinubu to prioritize merit over regional considerations and cautioned against detractors who might oppose her appointment based on irrelevant factors.
