Collective Action For Safety: Imiegba Community Partner To Deliver Ultra-Modern North Ibie Police Division

At a time when strengthening local security structures has become central to Nigeria’s development priorities, an ultra-modern police facility has been commissioned in Imiegba, Edo State, to enhance grassroots policing and public safety.

The North Ibie Police Division, delivered through the collective efforts of members of the Imiegba community and concerned individuals, was formally commissioned to improve law enforcement presence and response capacity across the area. Notably, no funds from the Ministry of Regional Development were expended on the project, underscoring its community-driven foundation.

The commissioning ceremony was officiated by the Honourable Minister of Regional Development,Engr  Abubakar Momoh FNSE, who provided leadership coordination for the initiative and facilitated collaboration among stakeholders to ensure its successful delivery. His role reflected an approach to development that promotes partnership, local ownership, and institutional strengthening in addressing security needs.

The facility was developed in line with national policing standards, with its design formally handed over by the Inspector-General of Police, affirming its readiness for operational integration within the Nigeria Police Force.

The police division was commissioned in the presence of Adams Oshiomhole, alongside traditional rulers, senior security officials, religious leaders, and community representatives, reflecting broad-based support for the initiative.

Traditional authority was represented by His Royal Majesty, Atoma I of Imiegba Kingdom, while the Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, attended with other senior officers of the command.

Religious leaders and community stakeholders were also present, reinforcing a shared commitment to peace, cooperation, and social stability.

With the commissioning of the North Ibie Police Division, residents of Imiegba and surrounding communities are expected to benefit from improved security coverage, faster response times, and strengthened engagement between law enforcement and the public.

The project stands as a practical demonstration of how community initiative, guided leadership, and institutional collaboration can translate into sustainable security outcomes and support broader development objectives.
