In Jalingo on Tuesday, Musa Chul, the representative for Gassol II in the Taraba State House of Assembly, urged both the state and federal governments to accelerate efforts in extending communication networks to his constituency.
Chul emphasized that the lack of communication infrastructure in the constituency posed significant challenges during the previous general election, hindering eligible voters from participating fully in the electoral process.
He revealed that during the 2023 general elections, many voters in his constituency were unable to cast their votes due to the inadequate communication network.
“In the 2023 general elections, only 45% of my constituents possessed Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and those without were unable to vote. This was primarily due to the electoral authorities’ inability to reach them effectively due to poor network coverage,” Chul stated.
He highlighted the pressing need for improved network connectivity, especially in remote areas within Gassol II State Constituency, where communication services are currently non-existent.
