Among those selected are Adebayo Ojeyinka from Osun State and Joachin Achor from Abia State, while the remaining 16 appointees are Anambra indigenes.

The announcement was made in a press release by the governor’s press secretary, Christian Aburime, on Friday, March 8.

Aburime noted that the appointments were merit-based, following a thorough and transparent process, including a computer-based exam, a search procedure, and one-on-one discussions with the governor.

According to the statement, this interactive process allowed for a comprehensive evaluation of the candidates’ qualifications, aspirations, and alignment with the government’s objectives.

Traditionally, the selection of permanent secretaries was solely at the discretion of the governor. However, this time, a deliberate shift towards a transparent search process was initiated, aiming to ensure fairness, equal opportunity, and the identification of the most qualified individuals.

The move underscores Soludo’s dedication to breaking barriers and promoting inclusivity in Anambra State. It highlights his willingness to tap into talent from across the country, as evidenced by the appointment of non-indigenes and individuals from other states.

The appointment of Ojeyinka from Osun State is particularly significant, signaling a departure from the customary practice of reserving top civil service positions for indigenes only. This decision emphasizes Anambra’s openness to individuals from all backgrounds, irrespective of their state of origin.
