The former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has stated that former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, should not be regarded as opposition figures.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking during an interview with journalists in Abuja regarding reports of Mohammed’s possible defection, Sowore argued that the governor has long been part of what he described as the political establishment and not an opposition politician.
The human rights activist also alleged that Mohammed’s tenure as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) was characterized by corruption, claiming it was worse than that of the current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Sowore further maintained that there is no meaningful ideological difference among the All Progressives Congress (APC), the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing them as essentially the same political entities operating under different names.
In his remarks, he questioned how individuals he described as being associated with corruption could be labeled as opposition figures, insisting that such a characterization was misleading. He also referenced Mohammed’s previous role as FCT Minister and alleged past legal issues related to corruption.
Additionally, Sowore dismissed suggestions that Peter Obi represents a genuine alternative political movement. He argued that Obi’s political associations contradict earlier criticisms he made of certain political actors and groups.
Sowore also claimed that Obi misled supporters during the 2023 election period, stating that his current alliances are inconsistent with his past public statements.
