Controversy Hits Iyabo Ojo As EFCC Grills Actress Over Lavish Currency Spraying

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recently questioned Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo regarding the act of spraying Naira and dollars during her daughter’s extravagant wedding ceremony.

Iyabo Ojo revealed that the EFCC reached out to her while she was in the UK, and she complied with their request upon her return to Nigeria. She shared that EFCC officials presented video evidence showing guests, including her colleagues and friends, spraying both Naira and foreign currencies at the wedding.

The actress explained that the EFCC clarified that spraying money, including foreign currencies, at events is prohibited by law, which came as a surprise to her. She had previously assumed that only the mutilation or abuse of the Naira was an offense.

In her message, Iyabo Ojo urged Nigerians to refrain from such practices to avoid potential legal issues. She emphasized the importance of reconsidering this tradition and advised caution in order to avoid future complications with the EFCC.

After being questioned, she was allowed to leave the EFCC office the same day, with her lawyer, O.I. Salami, representing her. However, she may be called back for further inquiries.
