Corruption Allegations Surface In Kogi: Fanwo And Yahaya Bello Under Scrutiny After Leaked Chat

The 2023 People Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Dekina/Bassa Federal House of Representatives, Usman Okai, has denounced what he claims is an attempt by former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, to influence a judge with bribery.

Okai’s reaction stemmed from a leaked WhatsApp group chat allegedly involving the state’s Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, and others. He directly accused Fanwo of complicity in the state’s woes and urged him to remain silent, stating that the leaked chat, revealing plans to sway justice with money, was a revelation from a higher power.

In a scathing statement, Okai lambasted Fanwo, asserting that the commissioner, who failed to secure his own party’s primary for the federal House of Representatives, is part of Kogi’s predicament. He recounted Fanwo’s origins as a media assistant to former Deputy Governor Yemi Awoniyi, suggesting a descent into moral decay by allegedly plotting to corrupt judges.

Okai further insinuated that Fanwo’s allegiance to Bello has clouded his integrity, likening him to other disillusioned figures who were once promised grandeur by the former governor but were ultimately forsaken.

The PDP stalwart cautioned Fanwo, whom he sarcastically referred to as a self-proclaimed Evangelist, against his purported hypocrisy, warning him of eventual retribution for his actions. He emphasized the exposure of the alleged bribery attempt and indicated that appropriate authorities had been notified.

In a separate development, social commentator Aisha Yesufu took jabs at former governors Nasir El-Rufai and Yahaya Bello, suggesting that their political reigns were temporary and subject to scrutiny.
