Court Orders Ondo Assembly To Investigate Akeredolu’s Health

An Ondo State High Court in Akure has issued an order directing the State House of Assembly to form a panel of medical professionals to investigate the health status of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu. The court’s decision comes in response to concerns raised by a coalition of civil society groups about the governor’s prolonged stay in Ibadan, Oyo State, after returning from a medical vacation in Germany. The court ruled that the assembly must constitute a medical panel to provide a clear report on Governor Akeredolu’s health in accordance with Section 189(4) of the 1999 Constitution. The case is adjourned until January 11, 2024.
