On Monday, June 26, 2023, Justice A.A. Isiaka of the Kaduna State High Court, Kaduna, delivered a verdict convicting and sentencing Ajayi AbdulHafeez Ezekiel (aka Kelvin Robert), the manager of popular TikTok musician Shalipopi, and three others to two years imprisonment each for impersonation and internet fraud.

The charges brought against them were in violation of Section 142(1) of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law l, 2017, and were punishable accordingly.

The other individuals convicted alongside Ajayi AbdulHafeez Ezekiel are Boaz Bondon Lally (aka Boaz Jefferson Herron), Shereef Idowu Usman (aka Marcus James), and Repang Isaac Kwasau (aka Luna Shop).

Their apprehension took place during a meticulously planned operation following intelligence that linked them to various fraudulent activities conducted on the internet.

Investigations uncovered their modus operandi, which involved assuming the identities of both real and fictitious individuals in order to deceive victims and fraudulently obtain their hard-earned money.

During the court proceedings, the defendants pleaded guilty to the charges. Consequently, the prosecution counsel, E.K Garba, urged the court to convict them accordingly.

Subsequently, Justice Isiaka delivered the judgment, convicting and sentencing each of them to two years imprisonment. The court also provided them with the option to pay a fine of N150,000 each.

Additionally, the court ordered the forfeiture of the items used in carrying out the crimes, as well as the proceeds obtained through their illicit activities, to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
