In a communiqué issued after their meeting on Thursday, November 6, the forum — made up of 29 state chairmen — reaffirmed that Damagum remains the only recognised national chairman under the PDP Constitution (2017, as amended).

In its strongly worded resolution, the forum distanced itself from the factional group, stressing that the party operates under a single, lawful leadership.

“The Forum, in the same vein, dissociates itself from the purported Abdurahman leadership and categorically states that the PDP has only one National Chairman, His Excellency Umar Damagum,” the communiqué read.

The chairmen commended the “collaborative leadership” demonstrated by the National Working Committee (NWC), the PDP Governors’ Forum led by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, and the Board of Trustees chaired by Senator Adolphus Wabara.

They also called for the strict enforcement of party discipline, urging all state chapters to sanction members whose actions undermine unity or stability within the party.

“The Forum emphasizes the critical importance of discipline within the party and calls on all state chapters to invoke the relevant provisions of the party’s constitution against erring members whose conduct threatens cohesion and collective interest,” the statement added.

With preparations underway for the next national convention, the forum urged all accredited delegates to actively participate, insisting that the process must produce credible, loyal, and committed party leaders.

It further stressed the need for transparency, fairness, and internal democracy in the conduct of the convention.

Reaffirming their confidence in the Damagum-led National Working Committee, the chairmen pledged continued collaboration to reposition the PDP for future electoral victories.

“The Forum reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the unity, progress, and electoral success of the PDP at all levels and pledges to continue working closely with the national leadership to strengthen internal democracy and rebuild public confidence in the party,” the communiqué concluded.
