The demonstration comes amid a lingering leadership crisis within the party, which has deepened divisions and heightened internal tensions.
The situation escalated after INEC withdrew recognition of the ADC leadership led by David Mark, triggering fresh controversy within the party.
Confirming his participation via his X account, Atiku said he joined others in a peaceful protest to challenge what he described as bias by the electoral body. He noted that the action was aimed at defending democracy and preventing authoritarianism in Nigeria.
Several prominent political figures were also present at the protest, including Rauf Aregbesola, Rotimi Amaechi, Aminu Tambuwal, Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Bolaji Abdullahi.
Meanwhile, the party’s internal crisis worsened on Tuesday with the emergence of a third faction. A group aligned with Dumebi Kachikwu announced plans to convene a national convention and set up an interim leadership to manage the party’s affairs.
The decision was disclosed in Abuja by the group’s spokesperson, Norman Obinna, following what he described as an emergency meeting of party stakeholders, convened to address the ongoing leadership dispute.
