The directive was made public through a statement from the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale. President Tinubu made it clear that this decision was in alignment with the broader objective to curb governmental expenditure in Nigeria.

The statement detailed:

“To ensure strict adherence, the US Mission in Nigeria has been given guidelines regarding official visa processing. Concurrently, Nigeria’s Permanent Mission in New York has been instructed to halt the accreditation of any government official not on the protocol lists approved by the authority.

By the President’s orders, all Federal Ministries, Departments, and Agencies must ensure that their representatives for the UNGA strictly regulate the number of aides and other staff attending the event.
