Damilola Sonayon-James Reacts After Securing Lagos Deputy Governorship Candidacy

In a statement shared via her handle on Wednesday, James said her nomination was divinely ordained and expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his wife, First Lady Remi Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his wife Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, as well as the APC governorship candidate, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, and his wife.

She also extended gratitude to the Lagos APC chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, party leaders and elders across the state, the Governance Advisory Council led by Prince Tajudeen Olusi, as well as traditional rulers, community leaders, women and youth groups, grassroots mobilisers, and supporters statewide.

James further thanked the people of Badagry, especially Badagry West, whom she previously represented, noting that their encouragement has remained a source of strength and motivation in her political journey.

She said her nomination is a reminder of the opportunities available in Lagos and expressed hope that her story will inspire women and young people, stressing that there are no limits to achievement.

According to her, her selection represents a collective victory for women, youths, and all supporters who believe in progressive governance.

She pledged to work with the APC governorship candidate and other party leaders to sustain Lagos’ status as a model of good governance and development in Nigeria.

James concluded by appreciating Lagos residents for their support and prayed for continued progress for the state and the nation.
