Dangote Refinery Set To Export Refined Products via Sea — Management

She highlighted the construction of a jetty in the Lekki Free Zone, designed to handle bulk cargo during the refinery’s development phase. “Currently, we are exporting our products to many African countries via seaports. Additionally, to ease the burden on road infrastructure, we will transport finished petroleum products to other ports along the Nigerian coast by sea for further distribution inland,” Wali-Abdurrahman said.

The group’s initiative is aimed at reducing road congestion while enhancing export capabilities across Africa.

During the statement, it was noted that Dangote Group, a key sponsor of the trade fair hosted by the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, attracted significant interest from attendees eager to learn more about its newly operational oil refinery, which has begun discharging petroleum products. The event also showcased other divisions of the company, including Dangote Fertiliser, Dangote Sugar, NASCON (Dangote Salt), and Dangote Cement.

Wali-Abdurrahman stated that participants were keen to explore business and job opportunities with the company. One attendee, Peter Ibrahim, remarked, “I came to the Dangote booth to inquire about business and employment opportunities at the Dangote Refinery. I know the company must have created many opportunities.”

Similarly, Sale Sagir, a cement dealer, said, “Honestly, I came to the trade fair because of the Dangote Group. While I sell cement, I wanted to explore opportunities to become a distributor of Dangote Petroleum products.”

Wali-Abdurrahman also mentioned the company’s investment in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). She explained that in an effort to lower their carbon footprint and reduce costs, Dangote has converted about a third of its fleet to CNG over the past decade, with plans to convert the entire fleet in the future.

President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Chief Emeka Obegolu, praised the Dangote Group for its pivotal role in Nigeria’s industrialisation. Represented by Vice President of Legal, Aisha Abdullahi, he highlighted the group’s substantial contribution to the nation’s development, noting, “The taxes paid by the group have significantly bolstered national revenue, helping to fund infrastructure and social programs that benefit millions of Nigerians.”
