Dangote Shares Story Of Friend Who Criticized His Nigeria Ventures

Aliko Dangote revealed that a friend who advised him against investing in Nigeria is now taunting him for not heeding his warning.

In an interview with Premium Times on July 21, Dangote addressed claims from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority that his refinery produces substandard diesel.

Dangote said, “Four years ago, a wealthy friend started investing abroad. I disagreed, urging him to support our country instead. He cited policy inconsistencies as his reason.”

He added that this friend is now mocking him, claiming to be right.

Dangote explained that he invested in the refinery to tackle a national issue, questioning why some oppose his efforts. “At 67, I have little need for more wealth. My actions are for Nigeria’s benefit.”

He expressed readiness to let the NNPC take over the refinery to ensure the country gets quality products and job creation​⬤
