Dasuki Drama: Court Slams EFCC With 3-Day Deadline To Wrap Up Trial

Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja has given the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) a three-day ultimatum to conclude the long-standing corruption trial against former National Security Adviser, Mohammed Sambo Dasuki.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The judge fixed July 7, 8, and 9, 2025, for the anti-graft agency to wrap up the case, originally filed in 2015.
The directive came as the trial restarted in Justice Lifu’s court, where a dispute arose over the admissibility of a subpoena issued in 2018 to the Department of State Services (DSS). The EFCC, represented by Oladipupo Okpeseyi, clashed with Dasuki’s lawyer, A. A. Usman, who argued the subpoena was invalid since it was addressed to an entity (DSS) not recognized under Nigerian law. Okpeseyi countered, saying the DSS is a statutory body and fully understood the court’s request.
Justice Lifu admitted the subpoena as an exhibit, noting that relevance determines admissibility in criminal matters and emphasizing that the case, now a decade old, must not suffer further delay.
The court also heard from Monsur Mohammed, a DSS exhibit keeper, who testified on the strength of the subpoena and presented items recovered from Dasuki’s properties in Abuja and Sokoto during 2015 raids. However, he confirmed that no incriminating materials were found at any of the locations.
Justice Lifu, acknowledging the prolonged nature of the case, adjourned further hearings to July 7–9 and instructed the prosecution to close its case within those dates.
