In the initial suit, Dasuki had pleaded for the court to uphold his rights amidst allegations of unlawful detention. Despite a favorable judgment in 2016 ordering his release and the return of seized properties, the Federal Government allegedly failed to comply, prompting Dasuki’s application for enforcement.

However, in a recent ruling, Justice Sengu Koroma of the ECOWAS Court stated that the court lacked jurisdiction to enforce the earlier judgment, citing procedural guidelines and the party responsible for filing such claims. The panel, including Justices Edward Asante and Ricardo Claúdio Gonçalves, awarded no costs to either party in the case.
