Davido Reveals Why He’s Moving Away From Western-Inspired Music

Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, has said he is no longer focused on incorporating Western sounds to appeal to international audiences.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

He made this known during an interview on the Official UK Afrobeats Chart Show with Eddie Kadi.

Davido reflected on his music journey, noting that he has achieved major milestones in his career, including performing worldwide and earning multiple Grammy nominations over the past three years.

The “OBO” crooner said he is now content with his achievements and is shifting his attention back to his African roots, promising fans a new phase of music that is strongly rooted in Afrocentric sound.

According to him, “This part of my career, I have performed everywhere, sold out every arena, I have been to three Grammys in the last three years. The music that is coming next is very Davido, it is very African. We have done it so I am not really looking to really do western sounds.”

He added that he is proud of his global success but now wants to fully embrace his identity through African music.

Davido also spoke about the strong support he receives from South African fans, claiming that a large majority of people in the country are familiar with and appreciate his music.

He has previously collaborated with several South African artists and has also earned multiple certifications from the country’s music industry.
