Davido Vs MC Oluomo: War Of Words Erupts Over Gov. Adeleke’s NURTW Decision
Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has publicly criticised National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) President, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly called MC Oluomo, over his opposition to the Osun State Government’s suspension of the union’s activities.
The exchange followed Governor Ademola Adeleke’s decision to halt the operations of the NURTW across motor parks in Osun State after violent clashes between rival factions of the union.
The governor also suspended the collection of levies by the union and directed security agencies to arrest anyone operating under the NURTW banner in defiance of the directive.
MC Oluomo, who spoke during the inauguration of a seven-member committee set up to oversee the management of parks and garages in the state, faulted the governor’s action.
Represented by his deputy, Aliyu Issa Ore, the NURTW president argued that no state governor has the constitutional authority to suspend the activities of the national union.
“We heard that the Osun State governor suspended the activities of our union, but he does not have the power to do so. No state governor has the authority to suspend the activities of the union because we are not under any state government,” he said.
Reacting to the remarks, Davido—who is Governor Adeleke’s nephew—mocked MC Oluomo in a post on his X account.
The award-winning singer questioned MC Oluomo’s communication skills while dismissing his comments, writing: “MC Oluomo wey no fit compose sentence dey talk… Kudosuuuu.”
