Deadly Attack In Zamfara: Seven Killed, 20 Taken Hostage By Terrorists

Residents in the affected area, gripped by shock and confusion, recounted the harrowing incident. Tukur Yusuf, a local resident, disclosed, “As of the last count, we have seven bodies, and several others were seriously wounded. Most of the abducted victims are women. The entire community is in a state of confusion.”

The assailants, reportedly hailing from Gwaska Dankarami, infiltrated the community around 6 pm, deploying three Hilux vans and targeting the community’s exit. The attackers executed a deceptive strategy by driving towards Kasheshi Kura, a neighboring village, diverting attention from their actual target.

Yusuf explained that while many believed the terrorists were heading towards Kasheshi Kura, they instead circled the outskirts of the area, opening fire indiscriminately. This occurred as most vigilante members were engaged in assisting Kasheshi Kura, contributing to the attackers’ advantage.

The northern region of Zamfara State, sharing borders with Katsina, Sokoto, and Niger Republic, is currently grappling with a resurgence of terrorist attacks. This incident follows a recent report by Naija News detailing the distressing kidnapping of about 40 individuals in Kasuwan-Daji Town in the Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
