The Lagos State Police Command has initiated an investigation into the death of Nick Imudia, the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Konga, one of Nigeria’s leading e-commerce companies.
Sources at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) revealed that detectives from the Homicide section have visited the scene and will conduct a forensic analysis of the evidence found there.
Reports indicate that Imudia, who was serving as the CEO of D.light, a company known for its innovative distribution and financing of residential solar energy solutions and transformational household products, died by suicide on Tuesday night by jumping from the balcony of his Lekki, Lagos apartment.
Before his tragic leap, Imudia reportedly called his brother in the United States to give instructions on the distribution of his wealth in the event of his death. He also spoke to his young daughter from a previous relationship, assuring her that he would always be there for her, instructing her to look to the sky to feel his presence.
Friends, family, and associates are in shock, with no clear understanding of why Imudia took his own life. Imudia hailed from the Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State. He was previously married to the mother of his young daughter, but their marriage ended due to irreconcilable differences. Later, he married a Caucasian woman, and many believed he had reached the pinnacle of personal and professional success, making the news of his suicide even more shocking.
Before his tenure at Konga, Nick Imudia held notable positions, including Regional Director at TCL/Alcatel and General Manager/Managing Director for West and Central Africa at Microsoft Device and Services.
