Defense Headquarters Enhances Mobility With 20 New Armored Vehicles

The Ministry of Defence has officially delivered 20 recently acquired Armored Personnel Carriers to the Defence Headquarters, a move aimed at enhancing the professional capabilities of Nigerian Armed Forces personnel. Dr. Ibrahim Kana, the Permanent Secretary of the MoD in Abuja, confirmed the transfer in a statement released on Thursday.

Naija News reports that the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, received the APCs from the Permanent Secretary during a ceremony.

During the handover, Kana underscored the initiative’s goal of bolstering the country’s defense capabilities to effectively counter evolving security threats. He emphasized that the transfer signifies a milestone in improving the operational efficiency of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

Kana stated, “These Armored Personnel Carriers will provide our troops with enhanced protection and mobility, enabling them to carry out their duties more effectively in safeguarding our nation’s sovereignty.”

Similarly, Gen. Musa stressed the strategic importance of these acquisitions in enhancing the Armed Forces’ capacity to address security challenges promptly and decisively.

He said, “The acquisition of these Armored Personnel Carriers underscores our commitment to equipping our troops with the necessary resources to confront evolving security challenges.”

Musa commended the Ministry of Defence for its steadfast support and dedication to strengthening national defense capabilities. He expressed gratitude for the procurement of the APCs, highlighting the event as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to fortify its defense capabilities and safeguard national security.

The presence of Maj.-Gen. Emmanuel Undiandeye, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, was noted during the ceremony.
