Delta State Seeks Federal Intervention In Ongoing Peace Talks For Niger DeltaThe Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) has called for collaboration with the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) to promote lasting peace and security in the Niger Delta region.

During a courtesy visit to the NCTC’s National Coordinator, Major General Adamu Laka, in Abuja on Friday, PAP Administrator Dr. Dennis Otuaro emphasized that the partnership would bolster the Amnesty Programme’s ongoing efforts to maintain peace in the area. According to a statement released by Mr. Igoniko Oduma, Special Assistant on Media to the PAP Administrator, Otuaro expressed his administration’s eagerness to collaborate with the NCTC, which operates under the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), to ensure a safer Niger Delta.

Otuaro highlighted that a peaceful Niger Delta is essential for increasing Nigeria’s oil production and contributing to the nation’s economic growth, in alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He stated, “We seek the support and partnership of the NCTC, under the ONSA, to make the Niger Delta a safe region, and to ensure that oil production continues to rise for the benefit of the country. Ensuring sustainable peace and security in the Niger Delta is our priority.”

Otuaro also mentioned that the PAP would continue to positively impact vulnerable communities in the region, while supporting President Tinubu’s administration to secure the nation’s future.

He praised the NCTC for its effective efforts in addressing security challenges across Nigeria and commended the Centre’s notable achievements.

In response, NCTC National Coordinator Major General Laka expressed gratitude for the visit and PAP’s willingness to collaborate with the Centre in ensuring peace and stability in the Niger Delta. He reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to the country’s security and stability.
