Deputy Speaker In Ebonyi State Pleads For Salary Boost Amid Economic Strain....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Deputy Speaker Chinedu Onah of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly has called on all levels of government to consider raising the salaries of civil servants to alleviate the impact of the ongoing economic challenges in Nigeria. Speaking to reporters after an event in Ohaukwu Local Government Area on Friday, Onah emphasized the need for fair treatment of civil servants, comparing their situation to that of politicians.

Expressing concern about the inadequacy of the current salary structure, Onah highlighted the difficulties faced by civil servants in meeting economic demands, particularly in the face of rising food prices and increased school fees. He stressed that civil servants deserve to enjoy the same level of financial stability as politicians and urged the federal and state governments to recognize and address the challenges faced by workers.

Onah argued that the existing salaries, such as the N30,000 or N40,000 range, are insufficient for coping with the economic realities, especially when confronted with substantial expenses like school fees. He advocated for a substantial increase in civil servants’ salaries, citing the prevailing tough economic conditions in Nigeria. The Deputy Speaker underscored the importance of enabling workers to adequately address their financial needs, emphasizing the urgency of the situation in a country facing widespread economic difficulties.
