Deputy Speaker Kalu Demands Investigation Following Beheading Of Abia Couple By Unknown Assailants

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has condemned the brutal killing of Jacob Udo and his wife, Comfort Udo, describing it as horrific and senseless. The couple resided in the Isiala Autonomous Community in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, originally hailing from Itumbuzor in the same area. In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Livinus Nwabughiogu, Kalu called the violent act unacceptable and a violation of the fundamental human right to life. Representing Bende Federal Constituency, he emphasized that no grievance could justify such a brutal and inhumane act.

Kalu expressed his sympathies to the victims’ families and urged the Abia State government and law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice. He called for calm and restraint within the communities in his constituency, warning against any reprisal attacks while assuring constituents that the authorities would take necessary actions to ensure the killers are found and punished.

“I unequivocally condemn the brutal killing of the couple. This shocking act of violence contradicts humanity’s basic principles. My thoughts are with the victims’ families and their loved ones,” he stated.
