In February, the Defence Headquarters reported significant achievements in counter-terrorism operations. According to Maj. Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, a total of 974 terrorists were neutralized, and 621 were arrested during the period from February 1 to 28.
Among the eliminated terrorists, 10 were identified as key figures: Ashiru, Kachambi, Dogon Rakumi, Sulen Nagala, Laushi, Bangis, Alhaji Kabiru, Alhaji Baldu, and Baban Yara. Notable warlords Ashiru and Kachambi were neutralized on February 24 in Zamfara State, while Dogon Rakumi was eliminated on February 3 in the Ƙungurki area.
Furthermore, 1,157 Boko Haram terrorists and their families surrendered to troops during this period. The successes extended to various zones, including the North Central, where 131 terrorists were killed, 254 suspects were arrested, and 72 kidnap victims were rescued. In the North West, operations resulted in 495 terrorists killed, 241 arrested, and 333 kidnap victims rescued.
Operation DELTA SAFE in the South-South led to the killing of 10 terrorists, along with the neutralization and arrest of 359 oil thieves and suspected violent extremists. In the South East, Operation UDO KA recorded the killing of 106 terrorists, arrest of 69 suspects, and rescue of 19 kidnap victims.
The military also recovered a substantial amount of weaponry, including rifles, fabricated weapons, ammunition, and various equipment during these operations. These efforts were part of the ongoing initiatives to address the challenges posed by terrorist activities across different regions of the country.
