The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has confirmed the elimination of the abductors of 137 Kuriga school children in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State during a daring rescue operation.
Following a fierce encounter between the terrorists and troops, the children were liberated in Zamfara State on March 24, 2024, in a joint effort involving local authorities and government agencies.
Amid the rescue, General Edward Buba, the Defence spokesman, disclosed to Leadership that the coordinated military operations, in conjunction with local authorities, led to the release of the children, with some of the terrorists meeting their demise in the process.
Highlighting the DHQ’s commitment to sustaining operational successes, General Buba emphasized the recent rescues in Sokoto and Kaduna States, with 16 and 137 hostages freed, respectively.
The successful rescue operations underscore the military’s enhanced strategies and capabilities in addressing security challenges, ensuring safer outcomes.
