However, before publicly disclosing the lawsuit, Jones initiated a fundraising campaign aimed at garnering support for legal action against Diddy, notably without referencing the sexual assault allegations detailed in his complaint.
Jones took to Instagram to share a video addressing his followers, expressing his grievances regarding Diddy’s Grammy-nominated ‘LOVE’ album and alleging discrepancies in royalties and publishing payments. He asserted that Diddy had failed to fulfill his financial obligations, prompting him to seek legal recourse and launch a GoFundMe campaign to cover legal expenses.
Days prior to the video’s release, Jones had commenced a GoFundMe initiative titled “Help Me Sue Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs,” with a fundraising goal of $50,000. However, both in the GoFundMe description and the accompanying video, there was no mention of the sexual assault allegations he later detailed in his lawsuit against Diddy.
In the lawsuit, Jones asserted that Diddy had coerced him into engaging in sexual activities with sex workers, subjected him to watching explicit content, and facilitated drugging incidents. Despite these serious allegations, earlier online complaints primarily focused on Jones’ business dealings with Diddy.
